International Spring Festival
We held our first International Spring Festival on April 27, 2007. This annual fundraiser is a wonderful community building event, and a unique opportunity for the children
to learn about other cultures from around the world while also enjoying
festival games, foods and performances with their families. Don't miss the pictures below!
Read about the International Spring Festival 2008 here.
The 2007 event featured:
...A United Nations display, which featured the Mizel Museum with its Bridges of Understanding display, and Denver Sister Cities International. The aim was to teach the
children about the lives and cultures of people around the world.
Cities represented included Chennai, India; Karmiel, Israel; Nairobi,
Kenya; Axum, Ethiopia; and Kunming, China. Children were encouraged to
view and touch photos, costumes, flags, coins, art objects, maps,
amulets and many other treasures!
...An International Celebration with children’s dance and musical performances.
...An outdoor Festival offering activities, games and foods representing a variety of cultures from around the globe. This was the fundraising portion of the day, and we had a huge turnout from students and their families! In addition to delicious foods representing France, Hawaii, Mexico, Italy and other countries, cooking demonstrations were provided by La Loma Restaurant and CEC Middle College’s
culinary school, Eliot Street Cafe. Entertainment by the Aztec Dancers got everyone's hearts pumping and feet moving, and a raffle was held, with prizes ranging from world art to restaurant gift certificates and tickets to sporting events. We also had several games and activities for the kids, including a bouncy castle, ring toss, Bocci ball and others.
We extend a hearty thanks to our corporate sponsors, which included All-4-Fun Rentals, the Colorado
Crush, Six Flags Elitch Gardens, Javier & C
Diner, Heidi’s, Pizza Alley, and Sister’s Pizza. Also a special thanks to Sandra Renteria for
the art donations for the raffle!
