Donate to Brown Using Amazon Smile and Other Apps

Donate to Brown Using Amazon Smile and Other Apps

Holiday shopping coming up? Did you know your Amazon purchases can benefit your Brown PTA, without you having to give it a second thought?

Go to smile.amazon.com, and search for “Brown International Academy PTA.” Select as your beneficiary, and Amazon will donate a portion of eligible purchases directly to the PTA, at no extra cost to you. Be sure to always open smile.amazon.com when you need to shop. (And tell your friends and family, too!)

There are other ways to benefit Brown with purchases you’re already making. You can donate easily with the Givella phone app by shopping with selected local merchants (10% donation!), or by collecting box tops.
There’s even an Amazon add-on that will always redirect you to smile.Amazon.com.

bloomz150wHopefully everyone has signed up for your Bloomz classroom sites, and started using the handy Bloomz app. (If you haven’t heard about Bloomz yet, be sure to get a classroom invite code from your teachers).

Bloomz is going to be a fantastic resource for Brown parents and guardians going forward. And to make things even easier, the PTA is moving our private Brown Yahoo Group to Bloomz as well. The new group is called the “Brown Parent Forum,” and every parent/guardian with a current Brown student is welcome to join!

The Brown Parent Forum on Bloomz is a secure, private source for communications, announcements and reminders from the PTA to all parents, as well as a place for parents to share school-related news and photos. Be sure to join, and don’t miss out on anything happening at Brown!

How to Join:

(1) If you haven’t already set up a Bloomz account: go to Bloomz.net and click “Join Bloomz.” Enter the invitation/access code, and enter the information requested. Please email brownptanews@gmail.com if you would like to request a access code. Click “Join Group,” and wait for approval. Please note you will need a different code to join your child’s classroom. Check your “Home” screen on Bloomz for updates from the group!

(2) If you already have a Bloomz account: log in to Bloomz. On the lefthand side of the screen, click on “Add/Join Group.” Enter the invitation/access code, and wait for approval. Please email brownptanews@gmail.com if you would like to request a access code. Check your “Home” screen on Bloomz for updates from the group!

Check Out The Welcome Back Video

lynn-photo150wDear Brown International Academy Families,

Let me take this opportunity to thank you for sending your children through our doors each day. I am honored and excited to be part of this amazing community of learners.

Thank you for your contributions to making this a smooth and successful start to our school year. Teachers have already begun to offer students learning opportunities that are engaging and rigorous. I am so fortunate to walk through our halls and classrooms each day to see the explicit teaching and differentiated instruction being delivered to each of our students.

As we work to increase communication with all our families, your child’s teacher will explain about our schoolwide communication systemBloomz. This is an app you download on your phone. Many of our teachers used it last year, but we think the system with all its positive features warrants a schoolwide implementation this year.

Another schoolwide commitment is our participation in DPS’s Parent Teacher Home Visit Program. This is an opportunity for parents, students and teachers to meet to discuss hopes and dreams for your child to better meet his/her needs at school. A letter explaining this program accompanies this newsletter this month.

Looking forward to another great school year here at Brown. Come in anytime to speak about concerns or ask any questions. Or you can email me at lynn_heintzman@dpsk12.org.

Sincerely,
Lynn Heintzman
Brown Principal
