Getting Involved in PTO/BPAC and CSC

Espanol

It Takes a Village
Parents who send their children to Brown International Academy have made a commitment to raising young people who are culturally aware, respectful of others and passionate about experiencing new things. To leverage the parent body’s enthusiasm and further guide the healthy growth of our school, two organizations have been formed.

Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC)
The PTO and the BPAC, formerly two separate organizations, have joined forces in order to bring together the ideas and energy of Brown’s many communities. Now operating as a unified organization comprised of students, parents, teachers and administrators, the PTO/BPAC advocates for all children, raises money and pursues community-building initiatives.

Working bi-lingually and representing Brown’s diverse population, this group plans major fundraising and social events including the annual Back-to-School Pow-Wow, Fall Harvest Festival, Santa Photos and International Spring Festival. All activities are implemented with the goal of offering enrichment to the International Baccalaureate curriculum. Look around Brown to see the fruits of the PTO/BPAC’s efforts – soon to include a science laboratory and a community garden!

PTO2:

Collaborative School Committee (CSC)
The CSC is a parent/staff committee focused on the improvement of school programs with distinct academic- and community-driven goals. The mission of the CSC has many complementary components:

  • To serve as a well-informed body of community and staff members regarding school programs, school improvement efforts, and specific school projects, and to foster common understanding among the Brown community;
  • To adopt and monitor the school's annual Improvement Plan to ensure high but achievable goals. The goals will be consistent with, but not limited to, the goals of the State Board of Education and Denver Public Schools Board of Education;
  • To serve as a communication link between the school and the community, aiding the school in addressing any issues or concerns; and
  • To serve in an advisory capacity to the principal.

If you are a parent or staff member interested in the curriculum and academic approach at Brown, the CSC is the committee for you!
