Still open: Treasurer and Co-VP of Fundraising. Both are critical roles — a Treasurer is required by our bylaws — and we'll hold a special election in August or September. If you're curious or know someone who'd be great, please reach out to info@brownpta.org. Self-nominations very welcome!
PTA FY26–27 Budget — approved!
Membership approved next year's budget: $162,900 in revenue, $183,370 in expenses, with a planned ~$20K draw from reserves (drawing from our end of year cash balance expected to be around $60K).
A few highlights of where your dollars are going:
Bigger investment in IB programming ($120K → $130K) — supporting curriculum, teacher training, Spanish, and field trips across all grades; ramping up for a tighter school budget cycle during 2027/28
New: Teacher classroom gift cards ($50 per classroom teacher at the start of the year)
New: Four "Coffee with the Principal" parent gatherings
Raising our individual donations goal from $80K to $95K (we exceeded $98K this year — thank you!)
Trimming back Parent Square (we can no longer use in the same way now that the DPS app has launched), smaller budget for adult-focused community events, and right-sizing family assistance and operational support to match actual usage

We're rolling out "Your Grade, Your Events" for 2026–27 — each grade has a few signature events, and we're looking for parent leads. When more families share the load, no one burns out, and our school community gets stronger. The more voices and support we have around the table, the better Brown is for every kid.
