Everybody In!

 🙌 Are you IN?

Today, we kick off Everybody In!, our once a year ask to Brown families. It funds the International Baccalaureate program that makes our school what it is. Our goal is $100,000 and 100% participation, and you can be part of it with your time or your money.

Before we ask for anything, we want you to know exactly what your gift does.

💖 What your gift pays for -

  • Spanish class. IB asks every student to learn a world language. Not every DPS elementary school offers one. Ours starts in kindergarten.

  • IB expertise on staff. Dedicated staff behind Peace Day, the living wax museum, and 5th grade Exhibition, and helping every teacher bring IB into the classroom.

  • Teacher training. Ongoing IB training and certification, so our teachers keep growing and our program stays certified.

  • Field trips for every grade, so kids can explore their IB units of inquiry out in the real world.

What we’re asking

Our goal is $100,000 and 100% participation from BIA families by Thursday, October 29. Giving happens on Zeffy, with three options:

  • $350, our suggested gift per student.

  • $350 to sponsor a student, so another family can be part of it too.

  • Any amount. Truly. Every gift counts toward participation, and we’re grateful for all of them.

  • Prefer to spread it out? Monthly giving works too. Zeffy is free for nonprofits, so 100% of your gift reaches Brown.

Everybody In FAQs

How many fundraisers will the PTA do this year?

Two. Everybody In is the only one where we ask the parents directly for money. Our Read-a-thon fundraiser is a way for friends, family, and the community to donate.

Why doesn’t the district pay for it?

DPS funds schools per student, and IB is an added educational framework. Brown chose it years ago because we want our kids to look at the world and ask what they can do to make it better. The district covers the basics of running our school. IB is the extra layer that makes our school community special.

Why are we covering more of it now?

For years, Brown had more than 600 students, and that enrollment helped pay for IB. We have about 50 fewer students today, and that gap falls on the IB program.

What about asking for teacher’s gifts during the year?

The gift donations are run by the Room Parents and are separate from the PTA.

The only time we’re asking for donations from parents this year is through our Everybody In campaign.

What do the Room Parents do?

Our lovely room parents support individual classes and teachers, while the PTA supports the overall school and community.

Do other schools have to fundraise?

Yep, this is pretty standard for public schools, unless they get additional funding from the district through Title 1.

I can’t donate right now, can I donate later in the year?

Of course! We thought it’d be fun to host a big event to get things going, but you are welcome to donate any time throughout the year with time or money.

Are my donations tax deductible?

YES! We are a registered non-profit organization so any monetary donation you make is tax deductible (our Tax ID number is 90-0816394)
