I joined the Brown International Academy family in 2021 and am very excited to be in a new role this year. As I am stepping into the IB PYP coordinator and 4th and 5th grade interventionist role I look forward to everything I will learn this year and I love that I will be able to work with all of the teachers and students across the school. This will be my 16th year in public education – time truly flies when you’re having fun! I began my teaching career in 2007 as a first grade teacher on the Navajo Nation outside of Gallup, NM. Since then I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade, reading intervention for K-2nd, and have coached teachers as a team lead. I was a graduate of the IB Diploma Program in high school in my hometown (Rochester, NY) and I credit that experience to helping develop my lifelong love of learning and my curiosity and passion for seeking to understand the world around me. The social-emotional wellbeing of our students and our learning community is of utmost importance to me and I always strive to get to know every individual who I work with in order to best support them and build great relationships. I hope to inspire our teachers, students, and families to be caring, courageous inquirers this year who are excited to take action in our community and world.

In my non-working time I love being outside and spending time with my husband Max, our son Weston, my friends, and family doing any of the following: walking, hiking, camping, leisurely riding bikes, stand up paddle boarding, skiing, or reading in a hammock. I also love cooking, listening to music, traveling (especially going on epic road trips), practicing yoga, reading by my fireplace, and the occasional Netflix binge.

I look forward to all of the learning and new experiences that this year will bring and I am grateful for your partnership in our incredible learning community!
