The school was named for Edward L. Brown, who served the Denver Public Schools from 1898 to 1931 as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent. Although Brown opened its doors in 1952, the school only recently became an authorized International Baccalaureate school, which it accomplished by undergoing an intensive certification process.
When Brown was selected by DPS for revitalization in 2003, a committee of teachers, parents and community members researched several different curricular programs and ultimately chose the IB Primary Years Programme. Today, a stroll through our natural light-infused building and art-filled hallways is a reminder that there is always something fresh and innovative happening at Brown.
The students at Brown come from a variety of backgrounds and pursue all sorts of personal interests and activities. What they all seem to share is a passion for learning. Get a small glimpse of our student body.
